Bitcoin mining firm Hut 8 has signed a 15-year lease worth approximately $7 billion to deliver 245 megawatts of AI data center capacity at its River Bend campus in Louisiana. Infrastructure provider Fluidstack will lease the capacity, while Google will act as a financial backstop, guaranteeing lease payments and related obligations if needed. Hut 8 said construction is already underway, with the first data hall expected to be completed and commissioned in Q2 2027, followed by additional halls coming online thereafter.

On Dec. 3, 2025, Tajikistan’s parliament approved amendments to the criminal code that make the illegal use of electricity for cryptocurrency mining a criminal offense. The new Article 253(2) targets miners using stolen or unmetered power to produce virtual assets. Offenders face fines ranging from $1,650 to $4,070, while coordinated group activity may result in higher fines or prison terms of two to five years. Large-scale or organized operations could face sentences of up to eight years in prison.

Bitdeer Technologies Group announced its November 2025 production and operations update, reporting a rise in self-mining hashrate to 45.7 EH/s following continued deployment of SEALMINER rigs. Bitcoin production reached 526 BTC during the month, representing a 251% increase year over year. On the hardware front, Bitdeer confirmed it is advancing two SEAL04 chip designs to ensure development success. The SEAL04-1 chip recently demonstrated approximately 6–7 J/TH power efficiency at the chip level under ultra-low-voltage conditions and is targeting mass production in Q1 2026, while SEAL04-2 development remains ongoing. Management said the company is on track to reach 50 EH/s by year-end 2025, alongside expanding its AI and GPU cloud capabilities.

Bhutan has signed a multi-year memorandum of understanding with crypto market maker Cumberland DRW to jointly develop digital asset infrastructure in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC). The partnership supports Bhutan’s long-term strategy to build a modern digital economy aligned with sustainability and strong governance principles. Cumberland will assist with Bitcoin reserve management, establish a local presence in GMC, hire Bhutanese talent and deploy industry experts to help develop local digital asset capabilities, strengthening the region’s financial and technological ecosystem.

Bitcoin miners saw slight relief as hashprice recovered from multi-year lows, even as network hashrate continued to hold steady above 1 zettahash per second. After plunging to $36.35 per PH/s on Nov. 30 and hovering at $35.85 on Dec. 1, miner revenue began to rise with Bitcoin’s latest price uptick. As of the past day, hashprice climbed to roughly $39.79 per PH/s, easing pressure on miners who faced severe profitability compression. Despite the difficult weeks, the network’s computing power remained resilient, staying within the 1,050–1,100 EH/s range and signaling continued strength in mining participation.
